Events From This Year

Women’s History Week

For almost 70 years we’ve been celebrating International Women’s day on March 8. Now we can celebrate more. Our friends in the Education Task Force of Sonoma, California held a weeklong celebration the week of March 8th this year in honor of women’s history. What a wonderful way to teach our children about the strength of women and pay homage to those women whose commitment and service has helped change society!

Help spread the word and hold your own Women’s History Week next year!

Last year, 20,000 of our supporters gathered in Houston, Texas held conference to celebrate International Women’s Year and identify goals for women for the next decade. The primary job of the national conference was to formulate and pass a National Plan of Action. This was the first and only national women’s conference to be sponsored by the federal government. In addition to the delegates, press, volunteers and three First Ladies, several thousand people came just to be a part of this monumental event!

Our July 9th march on Washington was organized by the National Organization of Women (NOW) to advocate for an extension of the deadline by which states had to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. constitution.  100,000 of our supporters marched, and the deadline was extended by 3 years. Good work, Everyone! See pictures here!
